Andhadhi is a wannabe crime thriller whose premise shows a lot of promise but nothing exciting happens on screen to keep the viewers engaged in the proceedings.

Andhadhi mainly revolves around a civil services aspirant, a multi-national businessman who aspires to commission solar power projects in Tamil Nadu, a greedy, money-hungry minister and few upright cops. The core plot, certainly, looks assuring on paper. However, the end result - the paper to screen transformation - is not welcoming and blandly underwhelming. The story is leisurely paced and runs close to three hours unhurriedly. It will test the patience of even the most discerning movie-goers.

Director Ramesh Venkatraman has showed superb technical finesse in the way he has shot, edited and structured his film. But, the excitement and engagement factors are completely missing and that's what makes Andhadhi a middling crime thriller. It could have been a gripping tale had Ramesh focused more on establishing his characters with more depth and subtlety.

The movie also lacks a fine lead and supporting cast. Only few seasoned actors like Nizhalgal Ravi do justice to their roles. Others appear as mere caricatures and visibly come across as rookies. The background score by Shamanth Nag is jarring and takes away the attention from the plot at many crucial junctures. Anjena Kriti, who plays the lead heroine, impresses with her expressions though she needs to brush up her acting skills.

The way Ramesh Venkatraman has managed to portray the struggles of a youngster who pursues his passion relentlessly even after marriage warrants mention. The scenes which demonstrate the police procedures and the character-conflicts between low level police officers and higher rung of the state ooze confidence and shows the ability of the director.

Andhadhi is the kind of film that deserves topnotch technical crew and an experienced cast to counterbalance the feebleness of the story-line. But, with a hapless selection of cast and the snail-paced treatment to the narration, the movie ends up as a disappointing tale.
