Ammayi Bagundi Movie Review
Pretty Meera Jasmine steals the show with her sterling performance in "Ammayi Bagundi". She plays two roles - one a lively girl and the other a timid, homely wife.
Meera carries herself off with conviction in both roles.
Sivaji manages to hold his own. Director Balasekaran could have hired a young actor with a lover boy image, instead of Sivaji. It is, after all, the story of a lover who goes through a lot of agony after marrying the look alike of the girl he loves.
Ali evokes laughs as an unemployed husband.
Srilekha's music has repeat value with "Ammayi Bagundi" and "Krishna Krishna" topping the album.
As the story begins, an unemployed Sivaji is living with his father and mother and spending most of his time with his friends and old uncle. He can't stick to any job. His would have been an uneventful life had he not fallen in love with Meera Jasmine.
His father arranges his marriage with the daughter of a rich man.
Sivaji goes to see her reluctantly - but lo and behold, she is Meera Jasmine. After marriage, however, he is shocked to learn that his wife is only a look-alike of the girl he has been pining for.
The rest of the film is about how the problem is resolved.
The director makes another touching love story after "Priyamaina Neeku" to join the band of skilled makers of screen romance.
