Santa Banta Pvt. Ltd. Hindi Movie

Feature Film | 2016 | UA | Comedy
Take a bunch of decent actors and make them demean themselves by making them play secret agents and international robbers from a script written by someone who is intellectually challenged. This film is a contender, and probably the winner of the worst film of the year.

Boman Irani, Vir Das, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra,Vijay Raaz, Ram Kapoor, Tinnu Anand, Vrajesh Hirjee, Ranjeet and a whole smorgasbord of familiar faces are taken to Fiji to play RAW agents and crooks chasing terrible one liners that are not funny at all. In fact they are so unfunny, there were people snoring through the screening. Had it been less cacaphonic, I too would have fallen asleep.

To add visual relief, there's Neha Dhupia and Lisa Hayden. Now both are rather attractive ladies, but they too did not ask the wardrobe person why they were both made to wear leather in Fiji.

Speaking of Fiji, the impossibly beautiful islands are where the action is set. But the story is so lame, you wanted to throw something more substantial than popcorn on the screen. The Indian High Commissioner is missing and RAW is supposed to solve the 'case'. The boss Tinnu Anand is so loud and crass that the man who is supposed to head the case (Vijay Raaz) decides to pick two random strangers (the village idiots Santa and Banta) just to get back at his boss. Santa and Banta arrive in Fiji and are met by agents stupider than what you could imagine. There's a Nepali Don (Johnny Lever) who wants to kill Santa and Banta. Why? No one cares. Because half an hour into the movie you have been assaulted by not just bad jokes, but animation as well. The entire movie has been shot at the hotel the cast probably stayed in but the budget seems to be unlimited. There are helicopters and small airplane, and rides in a souped up motorbike.

Then there's the villain called Sonu Sultan. And since there are no fat jokes to be made for Ram Kapoor who plays the part, they make jokes with the name: What is your name? Tipu Sultan? Salim Suleiman, Razia Sultan, Rehana Sultan, Sonu Nigam, Sonu Walia, Sonu Sood...Hope the Kraken are released and they swallow this gigantic mistake in the name of the movies!
