Critics:
Bela Seshe is simple. Tells the story of the 'habit' called love and establishes the fact of 'being in love' as a habit. A must watch to realise what might be lost and what can be won with rightful actions.

Man: Did you ever feel in love in all these years of being my wife? Or was it always a habit? Woman: when you take a shower and leave for the work, I use your wet bath towel to bath. I find love in your smell, in your touch through that towel habit...

No this is isn't a page from a romantic bestseller. This is the screen story of love and separation that director duo Nandita Roy & Shiboprosad Mukherjee has written in Bela Seshe.

Biswanath Majumder (Soumitra Chatterjee) & Aarti Majumder (Swatilekha Sengupta) have partnered each other in a marriage of 49 years. They have cherished a family of their own. Raised three daughters and a son. Just when their life seems too ordinary and complete, Bela Seshe presents us with a load of question. Brings us face to face with crisis.

Hell breaks for the family, when suddenly senior Majumder announces that he wants a legal separation from his wife. A lifeless marriage that only breathes out of habit is nothing less than a burden. And Biswanath (Soumitra Chatterjee) wants to get rid of that as soon as possible.

In the midst of a series of blames and questions, put forward by the children and their husbands, Biswanath and Aarti meet each other in front of the court. The judge orders for a 15-day holiday, exclusively for the couple. It is in this holiday that the couple begins to face true questions of companionship, love and exploration.

Along side them, their children also begins to mend the gaps in their respective marriages by winning over each other's weaknesses. The young at heart 49-year-old couple teaches relationship lessons, which seems to easy on the surface but are the hardest to maintain.

Bela Seshe explores many facets of varied relationships through the paths of love, understanding, adjustment and respect. At the end everyone finds love in their own way.

The film is too real and explores every little detail in much depth, even though the storyline might seem too minimalistic or simple. Brilliantly directed and narrated Bela Seshe is emotionally enriching.

The powerful chemistry of Soumitra Chatterjee and Swatilekha Sengupta is real and raw. Every other actor deserves a special mention. The directors deserve a special pat for assembling such powerful actors for Bela Seshe. For many it was a comeback after years too. Kharaj Mukhopadhyay tickles the funnybone, Rituparna Sengupta commands power, Shankar Chakraborty & Indrani Dutta portray depth. While the other actors including Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee, Aparajita Adhya & Monami Ghosh and Anindya Chatterjee balances the family scene with metrical performances.

Bela Seshe is simple. Tells the story of the 'habit' called love and establishes the fact of 'being in love' as a habit. A must watch to realise what might be lost and what can be won with rightful actions.
