Adi Kapyare Koottamani Malayalam Movie
Adi Kappyare Koottamani- This bell tolls for fun. A simplistic story narrated with ample situational humour and youthful mirth, Adi Kappyare Koottamani revolves around a few incidents taking place in a Men's hostel. It is not as if it holds you in thrall or leaves behind any special impression in the mind. It seems that the makers intended only that much and the viewers who subscribe to it will feel satisfied.
The setting hasn't any particular novelty so to speak but it is the situation that is created that arouses our curiosity. A beautiful young girl inside a boy's hostel, well that does evoke interest. Adishta Lakshmi (Namita Pramod) has some mystery surrounding her and she gets into a Boys' Hostel with a specific purpose. But once she gets inside, things catch fire and it becomes a sort of cat and mouse game.
Bhanuprasad (Dhyan Sreenivasan) the hostel inmate who helps her to get inside gets some money in exchange. But the youngster finds himself in an absolute quandary as things get out of his hand. The frantic situation produces some real confusion and with some skilful comic acts the young brigade brings the house down.
Bruno (Aju Varghese) and Remo (Neeraj Madhav) are Bhanuprasad's friends and they along with Mukesh who plays a priest (Mukesh)and his assistant (Bijukkuttan) create some really hilarious moments. The jokes look extempore and true to the situation. As things move ahead there is a concerted effort to build some real tension so that it could start resembling a thriller.
But the script loses its sheen beyond a point and it appears that the makers lost their imaginative felicity after toiling to create a rather exciting build up. Adi Kappyare Koottamani sort of disintegrates slowly and culminates in an uninspiring manner. May be a bit more fine tuning could have stood it in real good stead. The abruptness of the resolution of built up tension may not enthuse everyone. But the positive side is that the funny elements that the movie is replete with, had already landed it in a zone of comfort by the time it starts to stutter. Anyway it is obvious that the film had greater possibilities.
Namita Pramod looks very beautiful but she doesn't bring anything particularly new to the plate as far as her acting and mannerisms are concerned. Dhyan Sreenivasan does show his mettle but it has to be said that it is Aju Varghese and Neeraj Madhav who walk away with laurels with their sterling performances. Mukesh and Bijukkuttan also look in terrific form and combine together delightfully.
Adi Kapyare Koottamani doesn't have too much to claim as far as production values are concerned. John Varghese, the director invests heavily on the narration and the acting prowess of his actors. It is a sort of free for all as things happen at a hectic pace and like the title it is a relentless tolling of the bell which creates cacophony. This cacophony is its strength and Adi Kapyare Koottamani never allows you to sit back and analyse. It is a no holds barred fun ride bristling with youthful zest.
