Natoker Moto or much like the theatres begins and ends at a death that was actually scripted. That was actually to be staged for the screen but when it got staged for real or how it got staged to snatch a life is not known.

A woman jumps off a boat and peacefully surrenders herself to the realms of death. When it is time to say cut, it is already 'the end' for actress Keya Chakraborty (Paoli Dam). She was supposed to act out her role, was supposed to jump to follow the intentions of the script but unfortunately destiny had crafted a different script for her. Or was it all a scripted murder? What does the bigger picture reveal?

Director Debesh Chatterjee in his screen debut presents the story of a woman theatre artist, who on her first screen debut dies while performing a scene. Seeking inspiration from the real tragedy of theatre actress Keya Chakraborty, director Chatterjee brings on the surface a mystery that would never get solved. And has probably drowned with the death in question.

Bhabataron Roy (Rajatava Dutta) takes over this curious death case and tries to seek for answers that forced the scripted narrative to spill over the larger scope of reality. Amidst a faint hope of answers, Roy begins to question people who implicate a direct relation with the actress. It is this search that the director has beautifully juxtaposed with stage moments.

Performances of classic plays brings out frames of a by gone Kolkata. Brings back imageries of the old. Natoker Moto as a whole silently narrates the past as a background hum all through the narrative and lures us to revisit a time that is not only gone but is almost on the verge of getting lost.

Acting scores high, but can only be ranked after the direction and story. Paoli Dam steals the show with her poise and naturally becomes one with both the screen and the stage. Rajatava Dutta is equally active and sincere in his role. Others add up to the drama with their bits in Natoker Moto.

Natoker Moto or much like the theatres begins and ends at a death that was actually scripted. That was actually to be staged for the screen but when it got staged for real or how it got staged to snatch a life is not known. Watch Natoker Moto to savor a different taste that has a nice jolt of both the confined and non confined stage.
