Critics:
Teenkahon is that perfect book which can be read onscreen. Divided in chapters the film ties Bengali life in a common thread that spans over 100 years.

Even though the film's name is subjectively translated to English as obsession. But there is a splurge of emotions that these three chapters in the film explore. An innocent liking, few passionate glances and that immature longing becomes the central story in Nabalok. Such truthful, obedient love which never ages sets the beginning of Teenkahon in motion. A story by Bibhutibhushan Mukhopadhyay, 'Nabalok' captures the peace of 'gram bangla' in a juxtaposition of a Kolkata set in 1974. The nabalok (child) is a sabalok (adult) today and still cannot overcome the beauty of an affection and love he felt in his childhood.

Rain and thunderstorm becomes a repetitive imagery in Teenkahon. Rather the calm in the silence after the rains suffocate. But the chaos in the rains makes you believe it is not yet the end.

The second chapter opens in the year, 1978 in Kolkata and in Sukomol Basu Roy's (Joy Sengupta) house. An external calamity becomes the backdrop for an inner havoc. Mahua has committed suicide, her husband Gyanesh Mitra (Sabyasachi Chakrabarty) visits Sukomol to debate, ask and of course demand some answers for the suicide of his wife, which he believes he has.

It is the lover- husband conversation that becomes the central theme for this part of the film. Inspired from a short story by Syed Mustafa Siraj, this chapter is laced in suspense and leaves you quite numb by the end. A tricky turn at the end will make you everything you had witnessed until now. But director Bauddhayan Mukerji does not give you a chance to think much as he transports you straight to 2013.

There begins the last and third chapter of Teenkahon. The story of a police officer and his cold marriage. How he finds love outside marriage and till what level is he ready to travel just to be with this woman, he has suddenly understood to be in love with. Set in an era which most of us are quite familiar with, this chapter finally takes a turn that will either make you believe in love or force you out of it.

The first is innocently adorable, second is passionately numb and third is that final anchor that reminds you and brings you back to the reality. Watch, love transcend decades of life and experience passionate obsessions that create noteworthy memories.
