The film is set Amritsar in 1947, a devout Sikh and prosperous contracting businessman, Gurmukh Singh (Prithviraj Kapoor), lives with his wife, and younger brother, Prem. Trouble starts when Prem gets married to Ratan Kaur, as and her brother, Sukha, creates differences between two brothers, which eventually lead to the closure of the business.
