Killing Veerappan is a master piece for that genre 'docudrama' (dramatic documentary). Ram Gopal Varma got it right from the start to the end. The only problem may be that it is only to a class of audience who like the crime thrillers. But those who like those films, will love it.

We have several stories and films on Veerappan's life. Killing Veerappan is all about Operation Cocoon which managed to execute the dreaded smuggler successfully after several decades of hard work. The film starts will a disclaimer that the happenings of the film are according to the facts that came to the notice of the director.

Shivraj Kumar plays the head of the operation. He is seen as a Police with a criminal mind to grab a criminal. He is very impressive and is good in action sequences as well. Sandeep Bhardwaj is seen as Veerappan and he is apt fit for the role than anyone in the planet. Being a theater artiste, he managed the necessary emotions very well. Yagna Shetty as Veerappan's wife, Muthulakshmi and Parul Yadav as a bait to her, do not have substantial roles.

Ram

Gopal Varma even in his worst form, has no match when it comes to handling such intense subjects. It is often difficult to handle such subjects where in audience know what is going to happen at the end (Veerappan's death). Ram Gopal Varma managed it very well with excellent and gripping narration. RGV mark camera work and very efficient back ground score and crisp editing worked largely in favour. The Production values look good than most films of Varma in recent times.

Finally, Killing Veerappan is a master piece for that genre 'docudrama' (dramatic documentary). Ram Gopal Varma got it right from the start to the end. The only problem may be that it is only to a class of audience who like the crime thrillers. But those who like those films, will love it.
