The Divergent Series: Allegiant English Movie

Feature Film | 2016 | A | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi
Critics:
The third and the final film of the Divergent series comes after so long, you actually have to Google the first two films. Then the heroine of the film Tris does nothing, nothing in the film that endears her to you. You watch the pointlessness of the apocalyptic world slowly and double check Google to find out if there are any more sequels planned and thank the gods there isn't.

The Divergent series was published after the success of Hunger Games series and the Maze runner stories. Had this young adult bunch of books offered us anything new, we would have remembered it better.

The sulky heroine that does not belong to the compartments created by the post nuclear holocaust world is sulkier in the last part. She and her four friends helped change the world and now are unhappy because they have just managed to replace one dictator with another. You saw that in the Hunger Games series, didn't you? You groan at the beginning and realise why you don't have any patience with young adults. Tris, the heroine, played by Shailene Woodley, is so sulky, you want to send her to her room until her temper is improved. She's forever unhappy, forever dissatisfied and yes, the speech does not help. 'Cryin', 'Weepin', 'Goin', 'Comin', 'Breathin', 'Believin' are so nerve-wracking to hear, you want to shake her up and say, 'There is a letter 'g' that is part of the words. How can I trust you to save the world if you cannot enunciate words properly?'

Of c

ourse Jeff Daniels attempts to play villain. And that's a relief. But even here, he's not villainous enough. His lab (the city Tris and her bunch come from) is equipped with mind-erasing gas. Why did he not use it when he realises that his experiment has failed, and then begin again, rewriting memories? Great villains have great motives.

There are special effects that deserve a mention, but when the heroine thinks of kissing the hero when she should be saving the world from being gassed, you just want to throw things at the screen.

When the filmmakers fail to create not one likeable character, and you don't care what fate awaits them, consider skipping the film altogether.
