Katamarayudu Telugu Movie

Feature Film | 2017 | UA | Remake
Critics:
Katamarayudu is good in parts with Pawan Kalyan carrying it on his shoulders. Better treatment to the second half would have worked well with the film. Its a one time watch but will be satisfying the fans.

Katamarayudu (Pawan Kalyan) lives in a small village of Andhra Pradesh along with his four brothers (Ajay, Siva Balaji, Kamal Kamaraju and Chaitanya Krishna). Katamarayudu is unmarried and lives as an angry young man. His brothers bring in a girl, Avanthika (Shruti Hassan) to woo him. Rest of the story is all about how he falls in love with her and what happens later in their lives.

Pawan Kalyan carried the film on his shoulders with his excellent comedy timing and some fans thrilling fights. However, the styling and dances are disappointing and do not match the range of a Pawan Kalyan film. Shruti Hassan is portrayed as a village belle and the glamour is just reserved for the songs. Ali is good with his comedy. . Ajay, Siva Balaji, Kamal Kamaraju and Chaitanya Krishna are good as the brothers. 30 Years Industry Prudhvi is okay. Rao Ramesh is hilarious while Nasser is just about okay. Pradeep Rawat and Arora as villains are passable.

Dolly has directed three films so far and all of them are averages. Despite being on the safer side, the director is missing his own mark on the films which are pegging back his career. It happened with Katamarayudu as well. He made some changes to the first half from the first half of Veeram with some good comedy and songs, it helped. But then, the second half loses the trick. The action and drama become lengthy and monotonous. The Climax is also boring.

Anup Rubens is a big minus for the film. The songs except for a couple of them are disappointing and the background score is also equally bad. Prasad Murella's Cinematography is good while the editing by Gautham Raju is okay. Dialogues and fights are good. The VFX in some fights is just terrible. The Production Values are okay.

Finally, Katamarayudu is good in parts with Pawan Kalyan carrying it on his shoulders. Better treatment to the second half would have worked well with the film. Its a one time watch but will be satisfying the fans.
