Jakkanna Telugu Movie

Feature Film | 2016 | UA | Comedy
Critics:
Jakkanna is yet another routine comedy entertainer for Sunil. The old habits like stuffing unnecessary comedy track, punch dialogues just for the sake of rhyming persisted. The movie is slightly better than Sunil's most recent films but is still long way to go.

Ganesh/Jakkanna (Sunil) is a young lad who truly believes in the word - One should go any extent to help those who helped him in the past. One day, he comes to Vizag on some personal work and falls in love with Sahasra (Mannara Chopra). Jakkanna then sets out on a mission to find a dreaded goon, Bairaagi (Kabir Dulhan Singh) who terrorize people even without showing his face. Finally, when he manages to get him, a sudden twist occurs. What is that? How does that impact the story? is the remaining all about.

The role of Ganesh/Jakkanna is a tailor made role for Sunil. The disappointing thing with him is that the charm is missing due to those workouts for his well-chiseled body. But the comedy timing and dialogue delivery with punch dialogues are still intact and is an asset to the actor. Mannara Chopra is more of glamour and less of substance. She could not even match the lip movement to the dubbing. Nagineedu and Kabir Dulhan Singh are apt to fit for their roles. Sapthagiri track was initially entertaining, but got boring after some scenes. 30 years Industry Prudhvi's track as Kattappa is the major highlight of the film. Remaining comedians - Chitram Sreenu, Raghu Karumanchi, Satya, Raja Ravindra, Posani are okay.

Vamsi Krishna Akella had to wait for eight years after his first film, Raksha for his second chance with Jakkanna. The story of the film is routine but okay. The Screenplay of the film is good in parts and places. Dialogues are good at some places, but many of them are written for rhyming and did not fit well. Music by Dinesh Kanagarathnam is not that great with Mannara's glamour is the only selling point. Background score is good and works well in few scenes. Cinematography by C Ram Prasad is good with colourful visuals. Editing by MR Varma could be a lot better. Action sequences composed by Kanal Kannan are good. Production values are appropriate.
