Mohanlal is seen as a middle-class man who works in a Supermarket and is desperate to get a promotion. Gautami is a normal housewife, Viswanth as a college student and Baby Raina as a school girl. Manamantha is the story of these four people who are not connected with each other.

Coming to the performances, the main star cast have come up with excellent work and they are the major asset for the film. Mohanlal proved yet again that he is a wonderful actor when he gets a role of his stature. Gautami is at ease in the housewife role and brought that homely look to the character. Viswanth and Baby Raina even though are at the start of their career, really excelled. Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, LB Sriram, Anisha and Vennela Kishore did well too. Taraka Ratna's role is good but too short.

Director Chandrasekhar Yeleti who is known for his different films handled his resources well and dealt the story very well without any confusion. The first half is a bit slow and emerges as a drawback to the film. The interval bang do not have any big twist. But then the second half is a different experience with all things in place and a perfect climax. Yeleti managed to instill the emotions well throughout the film and he makes you connect with the characters more than the actors. On the flip-side, there is no place for comedy in the film and the dubbing by Mohanlal did not appeal much. Mahesh Shankar's Background score is a big asset for the film. The camera work is good as well. Editing could have been better in the first half.

Yeleti struck a balance between Art and Commercial Cinema with Manamantha. Performances and Emotions have worked big time for the film. Manamantha is a meaningful cinema and this is your cup if you love to watch an honest film with humanistic sensibilities.
