Dora is the story of a village, Dorapuram in 1940, which is haunted by two ghosts for almost 100 years. The Indian ghosts fight with the British ghosts, terrifying the villagers. Sathyaraj and Rajendran were seen as the ghosts while Sibiraj, a police officer comes to the village to solve the case. How did he fight the ghosts? Did they solve the case and get rid of the menace from the village? forms the rest of the story.

Sathyaraj plays the roles of a freedom fighter and the head of Indian ghosts in the film after his death. The second role however is not that effective. Rajendran who appears in comic and supporting roles in Tamil films, in a horror film is a serious miscast. Sibiraj is an apt fit for the role of Police officer but the acting is not up to the mark. Bindu Madhavi who plays the daughter of the village head is also the same. Except for Yogi Babu, no one really managed to evoke laughter. Rest of the cast are okay.

Director Dharanidharan had chosen an interesting concept i.e., fight between Indian and British ghosts. But in the execution, the story resulted in lot of confusion. Particularly, the narration went wrong as the director could not connect the emotion with which Sathyaraj died to that of the revenge of his ghost. The love track further hinders the movie proceedings. Most of the songs composed by Siddharh Vipin come at odd time. Whatever good things about them may have been lost in the translation lyrics. His back ground score is good but fails to elevate the poorly written scenes. Cinematography by Yuvraj is key for Horror films and the scenes in the night effect have come well. Graphics are of average quality. Production Values are okay. Editing is also disappointing

Dora starts with a feel of films like Chandramukhi and Chandrakala. The first part creates good interest but things go wayward in the second half. Dora is mainly the story of revenge for a freedom fighter who dies fighting a cruel British lord, Jackson. Later Jackson also dies in a fire accident. Both of them turn in to ghosts and fight each other. The movie has some resemblances to Suriya's Rakshasudu. The director also tried to embed the love track amid this chaos which is again not at all interesting. The horror comedy will not instill fear or entertain you.
