Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen Tamil Movie
Director Ezhil who has spent a little over two decades in Kollywood, with his body of work can be compared to an average standup comedian who spoils the show with repeated stale jokes.
Also, in all his movies including Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen (SIB) he doesn't seem to stick to a theme. He is that sort of a director who believes in mindless comedy masqueraded as variety entertainment. There's nothing wrong in it, but only as long as the comedy works, with or without logic.
SIB, to be put it straight, doesn't have a story, leave alone having a script. It simply saves me from writing on what was narrated and how. No one in the movie seemed to take their roles seriously, nor were they meant to. Every cliched template for a comic caper was given a spin only to have them reach a new low.
Udha
Regina is the new mindless heroine who is even advised on screen by Soori that heroes would accept heroines only if they are dumb. There was also a supernatural element that was clumsily tucked into this vile mess, only to make things look dumber.
After the movie, while I was struggling to make any sense of it, the septuagenarian in front of me remarked with fury, "FOURTH GRADE MOVIE" - though derogatory, I doubt if I could have summed it any better.
