Balam is a gripping action thriller. It has all the ingredients to take the audience for a rollercoaster ride despite some glitches here and there. It is more of a Hrithik Roshan's show from the start to the end.

Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) is a blind but extremely talented dubbing artiste. He falls in love with Supriya (Yami Gautam). Very soon they get married and move into their new house with lot of dreams and aspirations about their future. But their world comes crashing as two youngsters with political backing barge into their house and rape Supriya. Rest of the story is all about how Rohan seeks vengeance on them for making his love story shortlived.

Hrithik Roshan delivered his career best performance in a blind but extremely intelligent man. The director made sure that it is convincing even though the visually challenged man is seen performing several heroic feats. We just connect to Roshan's pain and feel that his quest for revenge is fully justified. Yami Gautam is a perfect fit as Supriya and the chemistry between them is excellent.

Balam gives you the feel of Rambo's modern version albeit the blind man role. We have seen several films which delve on the intelligence of the protagonist but then the director made sure that it will take you by surprise when the hero miraculously and convincingly takes his mission of revenge even though is blind. There are plenty of such surprises in the film to which will prompt you to clap. Many of them are in the second half which makes it so special.

Sanjay Gupta and Writers - Sanjay Masoom and Vijay Kumar Mishra have come up with an excellent script. Sudeep Chatterjee's Cinematography and Resul Pookutty's Sound Design are excellent. Rakesh Roshan's music is disappointing. Particularly, the remix versions of yesteryear hits- saara zamana and dil kya karen are poorly conceived.

Finally, Balam is a gripping action thriller. It has all the ingredients to take the audience for a rollercoaster ride despite some glitches here and there. It is more of a Hrithik Roshan's show from the start to the end.
