Railway Raju (Sree Vishnu) is a middle-class lad who loves his family more than anything and aspires to become a star cricketer. On the other side, there is Imtiaz (Nara Rohit), the encounter specialist who loses his parents in a Naxal attack and from then he does not stand the sight of Naxalites or their Sympathizers. One unexpected incident puts Imtiaz behind Raju suspecting him as Naxalite. What happens further in this tussle forms the rest.

Nara Rohit should be appreciated for choosing another out of the box subject and even co-operating to be the second fiddle in the film allowing Sree Vishnu to take the major part. He is bulky but that does not come in the way much and his voice is an asset for the role. Sree Vishnu gets his act perfect in the role with many emotions. Tanya Hope is clueless and her character is limited. Ajay and Rajiv Kanakala are seen in little roles. Brahmaji was seen in a full-length role and is good as always.

Director Sagar K Chandra chose the story set in the backdrop of Hyderabad in 1992-96. Even though, it is a serious subject there are no lectures or speeches. The movie gets intense as soon as Nara Rohit enters the scene and the second half is very effective with a superb climax. There are some unnecessary songs, some dragging scenes and slowed the pace at some points but they do not disturb the flow of the film.

The director has got a good story, screenplay, and direction. Sai Karthik's songs are disappointing and come in the flow of the film. The background score is very impactful. Dialogues are very natural and the production values are appropriate.

Finally, Appatlo Okadundevadu is different with no routine entertainment. It will appeal to the people who likes realistic films with good drama. The makers will have to promote the movie well to take it to the audience and let them embrace it well.
