Rangasthalam Telugu Movie
Rangasthalam is the name of a village set in 1985. Ram Charan plays the role of a village youngster named Chitti Babu who has a hearing deficiency. Krishna Babu (Aadhi Pinishetty) is the idealistic educated brother of Chitti Babu. The crux of the story is all about Ram Charan's fight against the feudal leadership (Jagapathi Babu) in the village election in which his brother contests.
Ram Charan has delivered a stellar performance in Rangasthalam. He excelled in comedy, emotions and did a very good job with the expressions as well. Samantha is mostly confined to the first half and she is good as well. Jagapathi Babu as an antagonist is superb. Prakash Raj is good and so is Aadi Pinnisetty in crucial roles. Anasuya is surprisingly very good and apt for the character. Others are good as well.
Rangasthalam is an intense and raw village dramas which we mostly see in Kollywood. The apt comparision is Dhanush's Maari. Ram Charan is as good as Dhanush. Sukumar excelled with his pen as well as direction. Every film of Sukumar in the recent times have some confusion but Rangasthalam is devoid of any such. Devi Sri Prasad's songs are chartbusters already and they are well placed as well. The background score is excellent. Rathnavelu's cinematography is excellent so is the Production Design by Ramakrishna and Monica. Together they have created a perfect village set up of the 80s. Editing by Navin Nooli is good but the length is a concern. Production Values are appropriate.
Sukumar takes a lot of time to establish the characters and premise in Rangasthalam's first half. The story picks pace only in the First half. The second half is stuffed with emotions. One feels it is a tad lengthy but it is made up by an excellent climax sequence. Length is the only concern in the film. Finally, Rangasthalam is well-conceived Raw and Intense Village Drama set in the 80s and is Ram Charan's Career-Best Work. It would have been perfect if it is trimmed by some 20 minutes.
