Adirindi Review

|
Adirindi is a routine mass entertainer given a creative spin with multiple roles with different backdrops. The movie, however, slips to stay gripping due to its routine story, too much length and some cliches. Average Fare!

Dr. Bhargav (Vijay) is a revered doctor who treats the poor charging them just Five Rupees and he is believed to have committed a series of murders in India as well as Paris. In the investigation, it is revealed that it is the work of Vijay, a magician who looks exactly like Bhargav and he is after medical mafia. What is the backstory behind the murders? Why Vijay and Bhargav look alike? forms the rest of the story.

Vijay is seen in three different characters in the film and is effortless is executing all of them. Fans will enjoy Vijay character due to the energy levels. His performance in the Jail Scene (Bhargav) and Hospital Scene (Vijay) is immaculate. Kajal and Samantha are only confined to songs. They are more of guest roles in the film. Nithya Menon even in a predictable role manages to get noticed. SJ Suryah is a good as a villain. Vadivelu and Sathyaraj are adequate in parts.

Adirindi has the shades of Vichitra Sodarulu and Tagore with a touch of Bharateeyudu. Atlee tried to make it as a mass entertainer with emotional touch but then ended up making a flawed product in the end. The first half is stuffed with super entertainment and sets the good stage for the second half. But Atlee loses track in the second half as it turns out to be lengthy, boring, and predictable. The controversial dialogues about Demonetization and GST are not chopped but muted. The climax again is routine making the film an average fare.

Adirindi is the weakest work of Atlee as he relied too much on star power than his usual strengths of a strong story. The Baahubali touch with Vijayendra Prasad's Screenplay also did not help much. AR Rahman has come up with an excellent background score but the songs are passable at best. The camera work is excellent while the editing could have been a lot better especially in the second half. Production Values are Top Notch.

Finally, Adirindi is a routine mass entertainer given a creative spin with multiple roles with different backdrops. The movie, however, slips to stay gripping due to its routine story, too much length and some cliches. Average Fare!
