Balu(Jayaram) is the writer of a famous TV serial. The writer moves away from his family to Ooty to conclude the serial as his usual sentimental procedure to end a story. He assures his wife played by Ramya Krishnan and daughter that he will be back home in time for the child's birthday. On the way back to home he meets with an accident. His limbs fractured and in a helpless state, Balu is found by Julie who professes to be his fan.

Sarita as 'Julie Ganapathy' is one of the ardent fans of the writer who has been following Balu around for a chance to talk to him, and is thrilled at the opportunity to take him home and care for him. He's touched by her care, unabashed adulation and her attempts to entertain him till he realises that Julie is a neurotic & a mentally imbalanced person, maniacally obsessed with him, and had no intention of letting him get out of her life that fast. The cat and mouse game played by the duo forms the rest of the story.

Sarita steals the show as the psycho with her rolling eyes and quick changing expressions. Jayaram as Balu is superb as the helpless writer at the mercy of a dangerous woman. Ramya Krishnan is wasted in a couple of inconsequential scenes as Balu's homely wife. A dream-song in a sizzling costume is all that she gets by way of compensation! With Illaiyaraja's music and Balu Mahendras camera work on it's own class, "Julie Ganapathy" is worth watching...
