Abhijith had established himself in the roles of parallel hero and was seen a little more in Super Star Vishnuvardhan starrers. There is no denying that he has a strong liking for vishnuvardhan and you could always see a strong influence in the way he portrayed his roles in many of his films.

"Samarasimha Nayaka' produced by his wife Rohini looks like an extention of this particular phenomenon.

Though Abhijith plays the lead role in this action oriented film, the traces of his Vishnu fixation could be largely seen.Leaving that apart, the film itself is badly made with no substance in the script or technical output. Director Lingaraj Kaggal has a mindset of fifties style of film making and not a single shot of the film could be described as novel.

He follows the pattern of film making that was seen in fifties and sixties and even the story, presentation, comedy sequences looks life having been taken off from some potboiler produced in sixties.Rohini Abhijith could have depended on some talented youngster to create a perfect launch for her husband to promote as a big hero. The film has a weak story, terribly bad script and ordinary performances from the artists that the film gets last from the beginning itself.

"Samarasimha Nayaka' presents the notions of the feudal value system. Director Kaggal seems to be totally unaware of the present day rural life.

Though the dialogues carry lot of strength but it is told in an unconvincing fashion. The emotional sequences in the film looks jaded and they are just added to the narrative of the film. Despite the presence of seasoned artists like Sundar Raj, Srinath, Prameela Joshai the acting department suffers.

The story revolved around a good Samaritan Land lord in a village who has two cruel natured sons. Kashi is working as a labourer under the landlord. He has a loving sister who is every thing to Kashi.A lady doctor comes into the village to reform Kashi.Slowly she tells Kashi that the landlord's sons are creating havoc in the village. She also finds out the landlords sons have raped the maid servant in the house. She reveals the truth to Kashi who uses his force to organise the marriage of this maid servant to land lord's son.An enraged son of Land lord rapes Kashi's sister. Then comes the rampage where Kashi takes on the villains and set free the villagers from the exploitation.

The film's story should have been seen in hundreds of films that are released so far. Abhijith has excelled in action sequences, but he is handicapped by a week script.Rashimi Kulkarni is just O.K.in her dialogue delivery and acting, but she is very bad in her dancing abilities.Tara does a small role but leaves a good imprint in that role.Nothing could be said of the veteran artists Sundar Raj, Srinath or Prameela Joshai who just add up the star cast.Less said about the villain and comedy characters in the film.

'Samarasimha Nayaka'is just an addition to the number of films that are produced this year and could be avoided.
