"Aathi" is the remake of the successful Telugu film, ‘Athanokkade’, which had Kalyan Ram, Sindhu and Ashish Vidyarthi in the lead roles.


"Aathi" brings back one of the most the successful pair of recent times Vijay and Trisha. They showed excellent chemistry in earlier releases "Ghilli" and "Thirupachi".


Vijay plays as a regular college student who unleashes his anger occasionally to avenge the death of his kin. He gets a chance to show his mettle as a happy-go-lucky guy and as an angry young man. The movie is supposed to provide stunning action and special effects.


Malayalam actor Sai Kumar plays the villain and Vijay Kumar plays as Aathi’s grandfather, while the parents are played by Prakashraj and Amita.


The others in the cast are Nasser, Sneha Nambiar, Livinston, Malavika, Rajan P. Dev, Manivannan, Rajkapur, Damu and Sita. Vivek has been roped in for comedy.


The film, Vijay’s home production, has music by Vidyasagar, and is scheduled for a Pongal release.
