Innale Vare Malayalam Movie
In Innale Vare, actor Aadhi Shankar (Asif Ali) has a big ego, a string of flops, a lot of debt, and affairs with multiple women. Aadhi has friends and enemies in the film industry as he has talent but he also fails to meet his film and advertisement commitments. His ego does not let him befriend too many people. Aadhi is a bit like Saroj Kumar with a bit of acting talent and more popularity.
Innale Vare is a film by Jis Joy, a man known for so-called feel-good cinema. It is a departure from the films that Jis Joy usually makes with positive vibes. Here, what you mostly see is a thriller with a hostage situation. A lot of the film happens at night and in claustrophobic settings with little to no light.
I cannot reveal the specifics of the plot, but remember that it revolves around the characters of Asif Ali, Nimisha Sajayan, and Antony Varghese. A bit like Aadhi, Nimisha Sajayan's Shani is also in a lot of debt. Only, Aadhi's debt has a lot to do with his own doings, but we suspect whether it is the same in the case of Shani.
Technology also plays a key role in the film. There is one character who uses a software program to mimic someone else's voice for a fake identity. The movie shows how easily one can edit lines from a conversation with software to cheat someone. I do not know whether it is possible in the same way as the film shows, but you can buy into it if you suspend your disbelief.
The movie has many plausibility issues, even though it is engaging enough as a thriller. You wonder how plausible the hostage situation in the film is. The apartment and the events in it seem a bit too casual for a hostage situation. The shift from a pure thriller to a thriller with a feel-good factor appears good scripting-wise but is not convincing enough in terms of execution. The plot seems borderline preposterous, so it is hard to buy into even the most interesting ideas of the film. There is a twist in the end that you can predict.
Nevertheless, the acting of Asif Ali and Nimisha Sajayan brings some sense of believability to the proceedings. It may not make everything believable here but at least allows the audience to use suspension of disbelief and enjoy the film.
Asif Ali's casting is a masterstroke because he is talented enough but is not a superstar. He shows the bad aspects of Aadhi Shankar and the soft side of the actor. Nimisha Sajayan is also wonderful as a struggling woman who puts herself in a situation for a lack of options. Anthony Varghese seems expressionless at some points but plays his part with no remorse.
Despite the flaws, Innale Vare is consistently engaging and mostly entertaining. The highlight scene here is a physical struggle between two characters for their existence and endurance.
