A thriller with a noble intention and purpose, 'Dhoomam' succeeds to an extent to set the yardsticks while disseminating a good message through the medium. Still, the incoherent nature of the plot and the rickety narration give a flagging impact.

Though Dhoomam addresses a relevant issue, the flat storytelling and sluggish pace bog down the film, which could have been edited further to make for a taut thriller. The film, however, does have its high points and these usually come during the flashback portions.

Pawan Kumar is a much-awarded Kannada writer-director, so when he joins hands with one of Malayalam’s top acting talents, expectations are high. But the Dhoomam script is a letdown and too long at about 150 minutes, feeling like something from the 90s, and the actors are not able to lift it up.

Fahadh Faasil leads an unimpactful film fogged by its message. Pawan Kumar’s ‘Dhoomam’, starring Fahadh Faasil, Roshan Mathew and Aparna Balamurali, begins intriguingly but the suspense thriller soon falls flat owing to the poor script and sloppy dialogues.
