Kingdom Telugu Movie
July 31 2025 (India)
Director: Gowtam Tinnanuri
Kingdom, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and starring Vijay Deverakonda, is an ambitious action drama that dazzles with its visual scale but stumbles emotionally. Critics widely appreciate the film's technical finesse, cinematography, and Deverakonda’s restrained performance, but almost unanimously lament its emotional hollowness and inconsistent writing. While the second half reportedly fares better, bringing in some drama and redemption arcs, the first half is described as dull and meandering. Tinnanuri’s foray into a new genre is seen as bold but uneven, and his attempt to weave emotional depth into a grand narrative is viewed as undercooked. The film aims high but doesn't quite reach its potential, resulting in a watchable but unremarkable experience.
Verdict:
Kingdom is a visually rich and technically competent film that falls short of being truly gripping. While Vijay Deverakonda's performance and the film’s scale are commendable, the lack of emotional depth and narrative focus prevent it from rising above mediocrity. It’s passable for those with modest expectations, but not the genre-defining spectacle it aspires to be.
