In this emotional tale of vengeance set in the medical field, director Midhun Manuel Thomas adheres to the traditional pillars of thrillers. His latest work, "Abraham Ozler," follows a familiar pattern of thrillers, presenting a engaging story within the backdrop of the medical world. The film employs the well-established formula of probing into mysterious murders followed by confessions from the killers, creating a watchable thriller with conventional tropes.

The script, meticulously crafted by scenarist Dr. Randheer Krishnan, leverages medical jargon to play crucial roles in the story's decisive moments. Krishnan's expertise in the field contributes to the engaging narrative by providing precise detailing of medical procedures and terminologies.

Jayaram takes on the titular role of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abraham Ozler, who grapples with the loss of his family. Despite limited opportunities for a standout performance, Jayaram brings a raw intensity to his character. The film's surprise element is Mammootty, portraying the antagonist, whose character details remain undisclosed to avoid spoilers but significantly impact the latter part of the film.

The plot unfolds as ACP Ozler faces a tragedy during a getaway with his wife and daughter. His visits to an accused individual in jail add complexity to the narrative but primarily contribute to the hero's mental anguish. Assigned to investigate a series of murders, Ozler, accompanied by Sub Inspectors Sijo (Senthil Krishna) and Divya (Arya Salim), embarks on a search for the mysterious killers.

As the story progresses, the film adheres to the customary thriller structure, delving into a flashback mode after nabbing the culprits. This reveals the emotional lives of the antagonists and the reasons behind the mysterious murders. The romantic subplot involving medical student Suja Jayadev (Anaswara Rajan) adds depth to the back story.

Despite a somewhat trite script framework, the film's diligent use of the medical background rescues it, aided by notable performances such as Jagadeesh's portrayal of Forensic Surgeon Dr. Sevi Punnoose. The background score by Midhun Mukundan, while slightly disconnected from the proceedings, struggles to maintain the movie's pace.

While the thriller's features may seem familiar, the natural complexity of the film's premise contributes to its engaging nature. "Abraham Ozler" may not be a groundbreaking masterpiece, but it showcases a good dose of intelligence in its writing. Overall, as an emotionally-connected medical thriller, the film successfully transcends the typical patterns associated with the genre, delivering a neat and gripping experience.
