Kithakithalu Telugu Movie
EVV Satyanarayana's comic instincts don't fail him in Kithakithalu. Because he leaves nothing to chance. He hires six dialogue writers and ropes in all the big time and almost all the small time comedians. The only worry was that will 'too many comedians spoil the movie'' EVV has the experience of handling a crowd of comedians (Evadi Gola Vadadi) and no, the comedians don't create bedlam in the movie; rather each comedian adds value to the movie with his own brand of unique comedy. And the movie is hilarious, to put it mildly. You would laugh a thousand times for sure even if you fail to catch all the jokes. The jokes fly so thick and fast that before you have finished laughing on one joke another one has already ended. Still you end up laughing your bellies off watching Kithakithalu.
EVV, who has made movies like 'Hello Brother', 'Jambalakidipamba', 'Aaa Okkatte Addaku' gives an all time best Telugu comedy in Kithakithalu. In rare movies you find all comedians contributing their talent. His selection of Krishna Bhagwan as the sidekick of Naresh has paid off well, for Krishna Bhagwan is known to evoke laughter with a deadpan expression combining with perfect timing to deliver the dialogues. Sunil brings the house down with the brief appearance that he makes in Kithakithalu. The only complain you might have is: several comedians have very brief roles. When the movie is of 16 reels, has all the comedians in the industry in it, and when every actor tries to make you laugh, this is inevitable.
Apart from comedy the movie has a good script. 'Fat girls are sexy too' isn't the exact message Kithakithalu tries to send across. Through belly bursting comedy Kithakithalu tries to preach that a married person should be happy with his better half and should not hanker for beautiful babes. Fair enough. But the movie goes a step further and stipulates that even if the wife is obese and not up to the husband's liking in the first place he has to accept her if she has good character. Hmm. Traditional values, but very peaceful. The movie shows how straying can be disastrous in a humorous way.
Rambabu (Naresh) learns the lessons in life the hard way. He is unhappy with the match fixed for him by his family members. But he has to marry her as his family members dangle the Damocles sword (threat of suicide) above his head. So he marries the corpulent match (Geeta Singh) only to hate her every minute of their conjugal life. Naresh meets a svelte beauty (Madhu Shalini) who he thinks is the solution to her miserable marital life. Madhu Shalini has everything that his fat wife doesn't have outwardly, but inwardly she has nothing that the fat-yet-cute looking wife has. Naresh realizes it at the end and returns to his wife with remorse and repentance.
Geeta Singh's courage in accepting a role that belittles her physical appearance every time she is in a scene is worth all the praise that we can heap on her. The addition of adipose makes her look cute somehow. Women would love the movie for the empathy with which the director has dealt with the story in their favor. And the men folk would be too busy laughing at the gags to catch the hint.
