Kingston Tamil Movie
The sea off the coast of Thoovathor becomes cursed following a paranormal event in 1982. Kingston, a daring sea smuggler, ventures into the haunted waters with his friends to break the curse and bring hope back to their doomed village.
Kingston attempts to blend horror and adventure but largely struggles to stay afloat. While the film has an intriguing premise—potentially drawing inspiration from pulp fiction and sea creature thrillers—it fails to capitalize on its promise due to a weak screenplay, sluggish pacing, and underwhelming execution. Critics have pointed out its convoluted narrative, poor VFX, and unnecessary flashbacks, which dilute the suspense and thrill. GV Prakash Kumar's performance is appreciated, but the film's writing and direction fail to give him enough support. While Kingston boasts some visual spectacle, it is ultimately weighed down by its lack of a compelling story and engaging screenplay.
Verdict:
Despite some scattered moments of intrigue, Kingston is an ambitious but flawed horror-adventure that drowns in its own execution. Its visual appeal and occasional thrills are not enough to rescue it from a meandering screenplay and uninspired storytelling.
