Kannappa Telugu Movie
An atheist hunter Kannappa becomes a devotee of Lord Shiva and plucked out his eyes in an act of devotion.
Kannappa, the ambitious devotional epic headlined by Vishnu Manchu, promises grandeur but delivers an uneven cinematic experience. While some appreciated its visual appeal and emotionally resonant climax, the majority found the storytelling sluggish and lacking in emotional depth. The film struggles to maintain engagement in the first half, with criticisms directed at its slow pace, underdeveloped characters, and missed opportunities—despite star-studded cameos by Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Akshay Kumar. Prabhas’s presence and the climactic sequences were highlighted as the few redeeming aspects. However, the overall narrative has been described as soulless, bloated, or preachy. Even relatively positive takes acknowledged executional flaws and a lack of cohesion.
Verdict:
Kannappa is a visually rich yet narratively inconsistent devotional drama. Despite flashes of emotional strength in its climax and a commendable effort from the lead, the film ultimately falters due to its sluggish pacing, lack of compelling conflict, and overreliance on star cameos. Recommended only for fans of devotional spectacles or the actors involved.
