It was really impressive when Shahrukh Khan said "Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin, namumkin hai" but to make it meaningful, I would change it to: "Don ko copy karna mushkil hi nahin, namumkin hai". Now by this I do not mean to say that the movie was bad but I am trying to say that comparing both the movies might not be a good thing to do.

The whole movie is very much inspired by the old movie except the twist in the end and couple of other things. I was expecting something different from the movie keeping the base story same as original Don. But Farhan Akhtar decided to use same dialogues and same scenes too (Yes, frame to frame).

The movie is about drug mafia Don (Shahrukh Khan) who gets seriously injured in the police chase and police commissioner DeSilva (Boman Irani) replaces the original Don with his look alike Vijay to find out root of the gang. But commissioner DeSilva dies in an encounter. And Vijay lands up in the jail with no proof which proves that he is Vijay not Don but he fights back to prove that he is Vijay.

The movie also stars Priyanka Chpora as Roma who plays role of Vijay’s girlfriend and Isha Kopikar who plays role of Don’s girlfriend. Arjun Rampal plays the character of Jagjit and he was just OK, nothing much in the role.

The movie as a whole is very stylish and Shahrukh fits in the role of Don very well but it is not possible to compare the role of this age’s Don with the original one. Both are good at their own place. Farhan has tried to give a twist in the story but in this process the story raises few questions and leaves flaws. (I cannot mention them here as they are related with the end of the movie)

Cinematography in the movie is very good, specially the buildings in the Malaysia.

So to sum things up:

Story: The story is more or less same as the original Don and few twists in the story raises questions in the end.

Music: I did not like those remixes much as the music director just added few extra beats in the song but couple of the songs was very good. Aaj Ki Raat was very impressive and so was the title song.

Acting: Shahrukh Khan rocked in the role of Don but he could not do the role of Bihari Vijay well, it looked bit artificial. Priyanka Chopra fits well in the role of Roma, very good acting. Isha Kopikar had very less role in the movie. Kareena Kapoor is just there for one song (and few more minutes). Arjun Rampal did not have much to do. Boman Irani was impressive like always. Om Puri is wasted as Interpol officer. His capabilities as an actor are not explored at all. Rest of the cast is good.

So overall, I would give this movie 3 star out of 5. There are high chances of movie doing well in the theatres but it might not be liked by the ones who have seen the original "Don'. The older one will always remain classic and it will be always impossible to recreate the magic that Amitabh Bachchan had created in the original "Don".
