Ritesh Deshmukh. The rather ordinary looking actor made his debut a few years back in an awful film called Tujhe Meri Kasam. And what a long way he has come since then. After his crackerjack performance in Rohan Sippy's Bluffmaster, here, he carries the whole weight of a film- one that is rather heavy, actually, considering the number of actors in it- and manages to pull it off with a flourish. And in the process, he makes an eminently dumb film quite watchable.

Normally, I would never dream of venturing out to see a film like ASMM . But with time to kill and the only remaining choice being Sooraj Barjatya's diabetes inducing Vivah, I did. And it didn't really disappoint- the film was exactly what I expected it to be- a mindless entertainer.

You'd be mad if you go to see this film expecting cerebral cinema- it is designed as a perfectly brainless blast- silly, street humor, double entendres, innumerable spoofs and the works. Lingerie keeps popping out of suitcases, priceless diamonds are hidden in a sandal, a cow's backside is shown to us in its full splendor- you get the picture. Yet, amazingly- the film isn't exactly what I'd call intolerable cruelty.

And for that, Deshmukh undoubtedly deserves a pat on the back. Playing a master of disguise, he is in drag for much of the film- to hilarious effect and is responsible for most of the laughs in this mind-bogglingly madcap caper. Speaking of the rest of the cast- Shreyas Talpade is perfectly credible as he infuses life in a completely colorless and cardboard role.

Out of the girls- Koena Mitra is pretty decent (more pretty than decent), Celina shows an ever so tiny improvement and Riya Sen doesn't have a role to speak of. All three are suitably glam, while Anupam Kher, Suneil Shetty, Rajpal Yadav and Chunky Pandey are all suitably loud and slapstick- though the Sarkar spoof really falls flat. And Jackie Shroff is an eyesore in every sense of the word.

Pritam's music is just about alright, while the lyrics are superbly and unabashedly corny. Sample these: If you pay my bill, mera yeh dil tera ho jayega and Dekha jo tujhe yaar, dil me bajee guitar! There isn't much of a story, so I'll not talk of it here. But if you have time to kill, you can risk watching ASMM - it won't kill you.
