If are walking out of the movie hall with a frowns and dissipated look on your face, you have definitely come out of the movie Chennai kaadhal. With Vikramam's direction, starring Bharat as the lead cast along with co-star Genilia, the movie seems to be a fiasco at box office with its lack of any story baseline and anything to substantiate to make it even an average movie.

The story begins like this. Gautham (Bharat) is a good for nothing fellow who roams around in the city aimlessly. He is often spanked by his father for his lackadaisical attitude. He uses all faulty ways to fulfill what he wants to do. Right from cheating his professor at exams, to going and fighting on the streets like a ruffian. All these incidents upset his father very much. Suddenly, a wisps of breeze and enters the lady love of Gautham. Narmada (Genilia) meets Gautham and the love story begins with a lot of twists and turns. Among this blooming love, there are episodes where Gautham is shown to be a perfect gentleman just to woo the lady. Narmada's heart melts down to this. In the process of meeting Gautham, Narmada mistakes him to be a police officer and she comes to know soon through her meeting with Gautham's father that he is a fraud.

Here is more about Narmada. She has a father who is a don and involves a lot in treachery, bloodshed and illegal things. As she dislikes this kind of behavior from her father and leaves home to live in a hostel and work in a call centre where she makes money to eek out a living. As she realizes Gautham is not really what he portrayed himself to be, she is upset but as she comes to know about his genuinity of love, she gets back to him.

As Narmada's father comes to know that she is in love with Gautham, she is pulled back home and locked in the house. Some twists and turns and both of them run away to Bombay. There they meet Gautham's friend who is apparently working with a mafia don. This mafia don turns out to be a friend of Narmada's father. The love story becomes complicated as they have to fight for their love. Narmada's father chases the love birds and reaches Bombay to split them. There are actions scenes here. And finally, the end.

Bharat, as an actor has maintained his good acting and that is the main plus point of the film. Genilia has done a decent job. The songs in the movie are nothing that can be really enjoyed and hummed. There is no new flavor or different about the movie. The comedy was not a comedy, it was rather a bad attempt to make people laugh through the comedy.

As the movie proceeded after the interval, people literally hit on their heads and said, what a crappy movie. Almost half of the crowd stepped of the movie hall.
