Shahrukh Khan's next after the blockbuster Chak De India. Farah Khan's next after the super-successful Main Hoon Na. Lots of hype, Om shanti Om had taken over television channels, movie websites, hoardings on streets, newspapers.. OSO is everywhere. Is it all hype and no substance? Lets find out..

Om Prakash [SRK], a junior artist falls for a superstar of 70s, Shanti Priya [Deepika Padukone]. A mishap on the sets leads to friendship between the two. Om Prakash loves Shanti, Shanti is married to producer Mukesh Mehra [Arjun Rampal]. Shanti is pregant, but the world is unaware of their relationship. Mukesh tries to get rid of Shanti by burning her alive on one of the sets, Om Prakash finds out. Both Om Prakash and Shanti Priya die. Interval!

30 years later, Om Prakash is now Superstar Om Kapoor. He starts getting affected by thoughts and memories of his previous life, things that he had never ever seen, heard or felt before...

The first half is fun filled, funny in parts but watchable. It's basically a spoof on the era of the 70s. There is a sequence where SRK is shown shooting for a tamil movie. The style with which he fights the gunda's and the tiger stuffed doll coupled with amusing dialogues is hilarious. The way SRK shouts the dialogue 'rascala – mind it' is truly funny. The second half is just about watchable. The repetition of scenes and dialogues makes it tedious to sit through. With some suspense (which was somehow missing) in the second half, the movie would be have been on a different level. The reincarnation part is where the movie fails. The Om - Shanti love story lacks moments, hence the entire rebirth, revenge lacks impact. The music is good, but at some point you tend to feel irritated. A song or two should be chopped off in the second half.

Farah Khan - What Happened? Where is the entertainment value of your previous movie Main Hoon Na? Although Main Hoon Na too lacked sense, it had magic, it also had truly funny moments in abundance. Om Shanti Om lacks fun, wholesome entertainment. Om Shanti Om is basically a typical Bollywood Masala movie without entertainment value!

Shahrukh Khan is his typical self. But honestly, he needs to limit his excess mannerisms, he overacts the overacting bit (If you get what i mean) in the first half and fails to impress in the second. A great fall after brilliance in Chak De. Deepika Padukone is star material, she manages to impress although non-existent in most parts of the second half. Shreyas Talpade excels in a limited role. Arjun Rampal is Brilliant. Kirron Kher overacts.

Akshay Kumar in the Return of the Khiladi act rocks. The 31 stars in the biggest item number of all time, receive the maximum cheers.

Om Shanti Om failed to live upto my expectations. It gets increasingly tough to sit through as the movie progresses. At the boxoffice, the movie as expected has opened big. But bad word of mouth should affect collections in the second week.
