Police Story 2 Kannada Movie
What will a film director do if he is locked inside a vacant room for ten years and then released for directing a film immediately? Well, if you see Thriller Manju directed 'Police Story II', a sequel of the ten year old film 'Police Story', you will get an idea.
'Police Story Part II' looks every inch like the original in its narration, content, technical details and even the way the characters speak their dialogues. It is utterly crude with no space for sensibility and sensitivity. Every other character shouts to his capacity, the fights are shot in almost similar way that was seen in the original film. The only change in the film is while the climax of the film was shot in a set, the unit of the sequel has gone abroad to Bangkok to shoot it.
'Police Story', released ten years ago became a run away hit and even its Telugu dubbed version did get some good response. The film virtually lifted the sagging career of Sai Kumar and he is being called as the 'Dialogue King' since then. But lot of water has flown in Cauvery since then and even the tastes of audience have undergone a change. The trend today is for soft musical love stories and young stars are making their presence in a strong fashion these days. But 'Police Story' lacks softness leave alone the musical sense. It is an out and out bombardment of hard and penetrating dialogues, lengthy fights and what not. Everything attached to this film lacks logic or an analytical content. The whole film is made to appeal raw instincts.
'Agni is back' proclaims the posters of this sequel. Agni who was a police officer in the original film is a DCP in the new film. But even though he is a DCP, he does not stick on to protocols or any duty limitations. He is prepared to take on any one. He single handedly fights goons in every available opportunity at any place. In this film he has to take on woman Don Thimmakka and her cronies. Thimmakka's rapist son is killed by the DCP. Of course this action enrages Thimmakka who approaches the Black Tiger who has switched his operations to Bangkok. But who is this Black Tiger? If you have seen the original, he is the Mafia Don who is arrested for his crimes by Agni. He would have got death sentence in the original film. But he escapes from the noose and is now in Bangkok. Agni is a dare devil officer and before Black Tiger makes a move, the officer goes to Bangkok and vanquishes him.
Dialogue King Sai Kumar has once again proved that he is master of dialogue delivery, but has been repetitive and lacks any variety. Shobharaj as Black Tiger shows some improvement in this film. Telugu artists Rami Reddy, Sana and Jeeva have not done anything to add to the quality of the film. Technically and musically the film is in the same levels of its original. Content wise it is vow fully substandard.
