Priyadarshan is known for classic comedies like Hera Pheri, Hulchul and Hungama. Audience expects laughter in abundance from a Priyan movie. So does Priyadarshan succeed in tickling your funny bone in Dhol?

Dhol is about four friends Sam (Tusshar Kapoor), Pakkya (Sharman Joshi), Maru (Rajpal Yadav) and Goti (Kunal Khemu). They have no ambitions or certain aim in life. So the group looks for shortcuts to success and money, but more often than not ends up in trouble. Things get worse when they try desperately to end their misery. The only way to get rich, according to the four, is to marry a rich girl. Just then enters the rich girl Kanchan (Tanushree Dutta). Each of the four has individual plans to marry her. What follows is a lot of confusion, twists, turns, murder, comedy and thrill.

Dhol bears Priyadarshan's stamp all over it, the south Indian director is in form this time around. The first half is filled with humor, except for the first 20 minutes which disappoints to a certain extent. The plot gets serious in the second half. But fortunately Priyadarshan ensures the humor is not lost throughout. It's mad; it's funny but could have been a lot better. The music by Pritam is average. The dialogues could have been much better.

Dhol is Rajpal Yadav's show all the way. He is in complete form throughout and outshines every actor in frame. A great performance by a master comedian. Tusshar Kapoor and Sharman Joshi known for their comic timing are good. Kunal Khemu is average. Om Puri, Asrani and Tiku Talsania support ably. Arbaaz Khan is his usual wooden self.

Dhol doesn't come close to the likes of Hera Pheri or Hungama but is a decent comic entertainer, which should appeal to the masses. Rajpal Yadav fans cannot miss this. Watch it for him.
