Golmaal Returns is terribly let down by the script writers. The direction too is below average. A disappointing return of the hilarious Golmaal.

Director Rohit Shetty is back with a film which he refuses to call a sequel. It's more like what Lage Raho Munnabhai was to Munnabhai MBBS. Golmaal released in 2006 and did good business throughout the country, which lead to the decision of making Golmaal Returns. As Sharman Joshi made way for Shreyas Talpade (Sharman had blocked dates for Dilli 6, a role which he eventually lost). Rimii Sen, the only female character in Golmaal made way to 4 leading ladies - Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Celina Jaitley and Anjana Sukhani.

Gopal (Ajay Devgan), who lives with his wife Ekta (Kareena Kapoor), sister Esha (Amrita Arora) and a dumb brother-in-law Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), gets stuck in a yacht after saving an attractive woman Meera (Celina Jaitly) from some goons. Both end up spending the night on the yacht and when he comes home the next day, his painfully suspicious wife, a hardcore fan of saas-bahu serials, smells fish. Gopal knows it's going to be hard to quell her suspicion so he concocts a cock-and-bull story about having stayed the night with a fictitious friend called Anthony Gonsalves. Ekta refuses to buy his yarn and writes to Anthony (on a fictitious address given to her by Gopal) asking him to visit her. Gopal convinces his junior at work, Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) to pretend to be Anthony.

Everything goes according to plan till the address to which Ekta had written to Anthony turns out to be real! If that isn't complication enough for Gopal, a dead body is discovered at the location where he had saved Meera. The Investigating Officer, Madhav (Arshad Warsi), who is Esha's boyfriend and cannot stand the sight of Gopal, learns that the latter had been missing from home that eventful night and begins checking on him. Madhav's investigation results in hilarious chaos and tricky situations where a new lie must be invented at every instance to conceal the previous lie!

The biggest problem with Golmaal Returns is its insane script. The writer has scripted some of the most bizarre of sequences in the name of a mindless comedy, add to it the poor execution and we have a movie that just does not deserve a watch on the big screen. Yes, well directed mindless comedies are great to watch. Movies like Hera Pheri, Hungama or even Golmaal managed to entertain even though the mentioned movies completely lacked sense or logic.

Here with Golmaal Returns except for about 2 funny scenes, fabulous performance by Tusshar Kapoor and gorgeous looking girls... There is nothing that Golmaal Returns has to offer. The music isn't great either.

Golmaal Returns is Tusshar Kapoor's show. The actor delivers a knockout performance in what could be remembered as his most memorable character ever. Ajay Devgan performs well in a role that could have been taken to new heights by Akshay Kumar; always believe Akshay was perfect for Devgan role in Golmaal. Shreyas Talpade ensures the audience won't miss Sharman Joshi. Kareena Kapoor in a role of a suspicious wife is good. Arshad Warsi surprisingly has a miniscule role. Celina Jaitley was super hot. And Amrita Arora's role must have been credited as a guest appearance!

To sum up, Golmaal Returns is terribly let down by the script writers. The direction too is below average. A disappointing return of the hilarious Golmaal.
