Anu is an engrossing thriller that is a must watch for people who like well made thriller-horror genre films. A tight engaging plot and brisk narration in this film is well supported by efficient work of lead artiss and competence of the technical team. The result is Anu, a remake of Telugu Hit Anasuya which was released in Andhra Pradesh in December 2007. Producer Baalu who had obtained the rights of this film has done a good job in the villain's role in the film.

Anu does not boast of a big star cast and only Pooja Gandhi carries some appeal among the artists. And even the technical team is little unknown for the Kannada film audience. But the narration of the film which is a take off from the Telugu film is engrossing and adds up to the curiosity in every sequence of the film. Incidentally, the film's director Shiva Ganapathy had also worked as an associate to Ravi Babu during the making of the original film.

Anu is an interesting film and its hall of fame is certainly the screen play. And the way it has been intelligently narrated can be seen in the way the details about the DNA testing and the background of the villain is worked out. The film does not have any loopholes in the plot and every detail leads to a powerful logical plot. And the climax sequence is the best part of the film. The first half is fully engaging, while the second half has a bit of violence that can look repulsive to the female audience.

Anu takes up a job in a popular television channel after completing her post graduation in criminal psychology. Being an orphan she is also sensitive to others feelings. After achieving big success in a few assignments, Anu is entrusted with a risky job to crack the secrets behind mysterious serial killings in the city. What happens later is that Anu herself comes face to face with the killer who kills her guardian. The sadistic killer known as a Gulaabi Raja is also being tracked by a cop of the special task force. After the killer is ambushed by the task force his dead body is traced. Even Anu identifies his body. What happens later should only be seen on the screen.

Anu is an out and out Pooja Gandhi film who has done a fantastic job. This film will go down as her best film that had her best performance to date. Her expressions and body language in the film suits to the character she portrays. Baalu is top class as a sadistic serial killer. Naag Kiran shines in the role of Police Cop while Duniya Rashmi has played her part well.

The camera angles add lot of flavour to the film, while Shekhar Chandra's background score enhances the quality.

Anu is a must watch for the film fans looking for good thrillers of Hollywood quality. And for Pooja Gandhi's fans this film is certainly special. Go and watch it without any hesitation.
