Please do not step on this insignificant little turd. Even before you realize, you're going to be waist deep in it.

Go fifteen minutes into this and you know not just where, but how it is going to end. Aayiram Vilakku should've been the caption of a news article that reported on the film being torched accidentally or intentionally- both of which are equally probable. The half star it gets is for the daredevil move of playing the ending credits; Directed by S.P.Hosimin- this man should be on fear factor. Honestly, I wouldn't dare to take credit for a film (even if my name was preceded by 'Refreshments assistant') that rips off Ghajini but leaves its signature by replacing Asin's character with a younger man and explaining that what they have between them is a father-son relationship. This fact is vouched for by a scene that has both characters feeling sexual tension, when they're topless and swabbing bloody wounds off each other's backs, occasionally throwing 'I want you inside me' stares. A young woman comes from time to time and 'bonds' with them, more with the younger one. We're not sure what her purpose is but the possibility of a threesome isn't one you can rule out. And Hosimin deftly handles it without letting any sexuality get on screen. Aayiram Vilakku, ridden with metastatic clichés, reeks of Dravidian sentimentality. In trying to tug at your heartstrings, it amputates its own. Note to Ganjakaruppu: Take a long break. As long as possible.

Please do not step on this insignificant little turd. Even before you realize, you're going to be waist deep in it.
