As I sit in the theatre and watch this movie, I wonder if would be able to sustain myself within the theatre till the end of the movie. 'Sura', Vijay's 50th movie proves to be nothing more than his usual palate of innumerable punch dialogues, irrelevant song sequences, a bunch of comedy scenes to fill in the gaps and of course a storyline hanging by a thin line of thread.

'Sura' (Vijay) a do-gooder of a small fishermen village and a fisherman himself has a vision to build proper houses for his folk, instead of the down-trodden huts in which they are living in. The villain, a minister (Dev Gill), wants the village land for his own selfish interests and thus tries many ways to get the fishermen to vacate their land. Each of the devious plan made by the minister, is foiled by Sura. The movie revolves around a very predictable storyline of whether Sura is able to thwart the vicious attempts of the minister, and succeeds to build houses for his people, or not. The movie is filled with scenes which we have seen in commercial 'masala' movies again and again.

The villain, Dev Gill, has given a decent performance. Tamanna plays his love interest and Vadivelu the side-kick comedian.

The leisurely pace at which the director has handled the screenplay in the first half makes us really long for the interval which never seems to come. The second half is no better, starts off with a song (Just when we thought we had enough) and some out-of-the-blue comedy scenes.

The songs are ordinary. Even the most popular on charts, "Naam Nadanthal Adhiradi" (which is plugged in as the last song, probably as an attempt to regain some interest of the viewers), is just bordering average. The cinematography is somehow better than all aspects of the movie put together. Anybody would think that Vijay could have picked up a better script for his 50th movie.

The movie is a disappointment for Vijay fans. For others, it is one of those movies which you can easily afford to miss.
