'Slumdog' shines at Writer's Guild awards

London, Feb 8 (IANS) British-Irish filmmaker Danny Boyle's rags to richs underdog drama "Slumdog Millionaire" won another feather in its cap by walking away with the most prestigious awards at The Writers Guild of America awards Saturday.


Contactmusic.com reports, the film's writer Simon Beaufoy won the gong for best-adapted screenplay for his reworking of Vikas Swarup's novel "Q & A".


Accompanying the film were Gus Van Sant's "Milk" that received the award for best original screenplay and Israeli animated film "Waltz With Bashir" that won the Guild's best documentary screenplay.
