Gnanavel Raja resigns from TFPC

Dec 7, 2017 JB

Noted producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja, resigned from his post as Secretary of Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC). He now will be contesting for the President post in the upcoming Chennai Kanchipuram Thiruvallur District Film Distributors Association election.

Elaborating on his decision, Gnanavel Raja says, “I have produced about 18 films and distributed more than 28 movies in Tamil Nadu. So, I know the pains of a producer as well as a distributor. I felt that as of now the distributors association is functioning not for the welfare of its members, but for the benefit of a select few. I want to get rid of those selfish people and want to make it a place where a fair trade takes place. That’s the reason I am contesting in Chennai Kanchipuram Thiruvallur District Film Distributors Association election.

Since as per the bylaws, if I am contesting in Distributors Association, I am not supposed to hold any position in any other film association and hence I have resigned my post in TFPC. And not out of any pressure as construed by a few.”
