Nakul Jaidev prefers one hit over 10 flops

Chennai, April 24 (IANS) Tamil actor Nakul Jaidev has done just seven films in a decade and says he believes in quality and not quantity.

"What is the point in doing 10 films that are likely to fail at the box-office? I would rather do one film that people will remember for a long time," Nakul, who made his cinematic debut with Tamil romantic-comedy "Boys", told IANS.

Since his debut, he has starred in films such as "Kadhalil Vizhunthen", "Maasilamani" and "Kandhakottai".

"People assumed I took a break in between for few years, but I was actually working for three Tamil films. I knew these films will take time and will require a lot of my effort.

"I'm more concerned about coming out with a better film because it is important for me to be proud of the films I do. I believe in intelligent hard work, and that's precisely what I'm doing in my career," he added.

Nakul prefers living in the present.

"I'm always asked what my career plans are five years from now, but I don't plan for long term. In fact, I don't even plan for my next day because I like to live in the present and embrace it as it comes," said the actor.

Nakul's forthcoming release "Naan Rajavaga Pogiren", coming out Friday, will feature him in a double-role.

"I play two extremely opposite characters in the film. While one of the characters is of a flamboyant North Indian, the other one is of a kick boxer in the South. The story tracks the travel of one of these characters in search of the other," said Nakul, who enjoyed playing a kick boxer.

"I have always been a fan of kung fu and karate films since childhood and, therefore, I thoroughly enjoyed playing a kick boxer. I didn't literally train for the character, but I researched a lot on kick boxing," he added.

He is paired with Chandini and Avani Modi in the film, which is directed by Prithvi Rajkumar. It also features Raaghav, Manivannan, Delhi Ganesh, Mayilsamy, A. Venkatesh and Zarine Khan.

Currently awaiting the release of Tamil action-drama "Vallinam", Nakul has two Tamil films "Amali Thumali" and "Narathan" in his kitty.
