Jun 13, 2016 Shweta Kulkarni

Bollywood actors are usually known for presenting their best profiles in front of the camera and charming their millions of fans, who religiously throng the cinema halls with their drop-dead handsome looks.

However, of late, our desi stars have been experimenting a lot with their looks so as to get into the skin of their characters. Whether it means slimming down to such an extent that their bones jut out, or to bulk up like a Hulk, or wear so much make-up that they are unrecognizable… They are doing it all and going that extra mile to do justice to their roles.

Here are some drastic celebrity transformations of recent times that made us drop our jaws.

Salman Khan In Sultan

Salman Khan undoubtedly started the 6-packs trend in Bollywood. His fans wait for the moment when their beloved Bhai rips off his shirt to reveal his chiselled torso. But the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star recently shocked everyone by showing off a flabby tummy in the trailer of his forthcoming film Sultan. Apparently, Salman has gone through a rigorous training session and has gained about 10 kilos of muscular weight for Sultan, which has him playing a wrestler from Haryana. Aamir Khan In Dangal

Our Mr Perfectionist is known to go to extreme lengths for all the characters he plays, but this time around he has pushed the envelope really far by gaining almost 22 kilos for his forthcoming film —Dangal. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is based on wrestler Mahavir Phogat’s life and Aamir has worked hard to play the 55-year-old wrestler in the film. He has beefed up with a vengeance and is even sporting a salt and pepper look for his character.

Randeep Hooda in Do Lafzon Ki Kahani and Sarbjit

While the Khans beefed up for their respective roles, Randeep Hooda freaked us out with his emancipated appearance in the recently released Sarbjit. So drastic was the weight loss that one couldn’t recognize the Hooda hunk, who had earlier appeared in a stylishavatar in Main Aur Charles. Randeep lost about 18 kilos in a span of 28 days to actually look like the human skeleton in the film. Prior to this, he had beefed up for Deepak Tijori’s Do Lafzon Ki Kahani, where he plays a Mixed Martial Arts fighter. Click the Movie button below for more info:

Shah Rukh Khan in Fan

The Badshah of Bollywood is always known to play a safe game, but the Dilwalestar stunned us all with his portrayal of the 25-year-old Gaurav Chanana in his last release Fan. While it is easy to play someone who is older, it is very difficult to play someone younger. But SRK took up the challenge and the 50-year-old actor pulled off the role of someone half his age with aplomb. He not only lost weight for the part but also endured sitting at one place for hours for his prosthetic make-up every day. Click the Movie button below for more info:
