'Why did I choose Dhanush', director discloses

Shamitabh is an upcoming film that is quite grand for its cast list. The film is directed by Balki who did Cheeni Kum and Pa and features Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and Akshara Haasan. The film has been cinematographed by P C Sreeram and the music is scored by Ilayaraja.

Director Balki on why he roped Dhanush in the film says, “I am a big fan of Dhanush from his Kaadhal Kondein days. He is an original actor and does not remind the audience of any other actor”. He also does not clearly say if Dhanush is playing a character with speech and hearing disability. He wants the audience to wait and watch.

On continuing to have Ilayaraja as the music composer in all his films, Balki says, “Background score gives half the impact a film requires and Ilayaraja is undoubtedly a master in this.
