Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 is double the pain, double the torture and double the agony. Watch the first part instead if you only want Deols and comedy in a package.

You just put the Deol trio on screen and the film is a blockbuster in the North regions where these Punjabi jats are idolised. Who cares for the story then? That exactly must've been the thought of the writer and director when they sketched out the sequel to the superhit Yamla Pagla Deewana. And while this review is being written there'll already be a beeline of crazy fans from Punjab and other regions outside the cinema hall to watch this loony fest. Here's a brief warning for those who still are contemplating whether to opt for this film or not.

Both Dharam (Dharmendra) and Gajodhar (Bobby Deol) are back to their money swindling ways. Not only do they dupe people in India, they are duping their own kin Paramveer Singh Dhillon (Sunny Deol) who sends them half his salary each month considering them to be poor florists from Benaras. Their plans eventually get busted as they come face to face with Param in UK where they are out to execute their biggest con job, to rob an apparent millionaire Khanna (Annu Kapoor). Whether Param averts this con job or not is what follows through the rest of the plot.

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 is nothing but a faulty attempt to make a formula film that ought to work with the audience. Sadly though, their desperate measures can be easily seen through as the film starts crumbling from the word go.

Lynda Deol's hare-brained story and Sangeet Sivan's haywire direction really make this film torturous to sit through. While the first part had its comic moments and gags that would leave you in splits, the second disappoints you so bad that you are drowned with an anchor of imbecility never to resurface to any remote aspect of intelligence right till the end of the film.

The director and writer both take pleasure in spoofing scenes from Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan's films worse still even commit the crime of spoofing dialogues from the cult film Sholay but none of the gags work in the situation.

The ordeal gets worse as the film refuses to end. With the run time of 155 minutes, this is one never-ending tale of retarded humour that never for once succeeds in making you smile even.

The trio Sunny Bobby and Dharmendra try real hard act funny but barring Sunny Deol's macho looks nothing really clicks with the audience. Neha Sharma and Kristina Akheeva don't have much to do in the film except pout or dance in the many songs in the film while the likes of Johny Lever and Anupam Kher only add imbecility of the already lunatic storyline.

To sum it up, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 is double the pain, double the torture and double the agony. Watch the first part instead if you only want Deols and comedy in a package.
