Vikramasimha Telugu Movie

Feature Film | 2014
Critics:
Vikrama Simha got it every thing right for a perfect Rajinikanth film but the usage of photo realistic technology totally killed the effect. Even die-hard fans could not manage to digest Rajinikanth as an animated character.

Two Kings, Ugra Simha (Nasser) of Kota Patnam and Raja Mahendra (Jackie Shroff) of Kalingapuram share generations of enemity. Rana, the leader of Kalingapuram is unstoppable and conquers all the nearby kingdoms and expand Kalingapuram empire. And there comes a time, the war between Kota Patnam and Kalingapuram takes place. But in a shocking twist to the film, Rana changes side and foughts against Kalingapuram. The reason for Rana's revolt leaders the story to the flashback mode and Vikrama Simha, another Rajinikanth. Rest of the story about the flash back and the relation between Rana and Vikrama Simha.

The movie has an ensemble of cast like Rajinikanth in dual role, Deepika Padukone, Shobana, Nasser, Jackie Sharoff etc. Their faces are very well recreated using the photo realistic technology but their expressions are not captured well making it a biggest void for the film.

Soundarya Rajinikanth and KS Ravi Kumar Chowdary got it right with the story of the film. It has all the elements expected from the Rajinikanth's starer but the animation feel of the film kills the enthusiasm of the audience. Also the film even at very short run time of 118 minutes go at very slow pace due to faulty screenplay despite having some extraordinary episodes.

Rahman is the film's biggest asset for the film and it's his music and background score that breathes life into the film. The songs looked visually spectacular but their placement has gone completely wrong. Rasool Pookutty's camera work is good but grading should have been better. Anthony's editing should have been better in the first half.

Finally, Vikrama Simha got it every thing right for a perfect Rajinikanth film but the usage of photo realistic technology totally killed the effect. Even die-hard fans could not manage to digest Rajinikanth as an animated character.
