Critics:
Rocky is a disappointment and too sub-standard in terms of it's over all appeal. Mithun Chokroborty's guest dance appearance is indeed the only good thing about Rocky.

The trailer that has been doing rounds for weeks now finally gets released as a 2 hours 17 minutes film at the theaters. The audiences are now saved from the misery of watching this painstaking trailer each time they step into the theater. Our very own disco dancer Mithun Chakroborty's appeal to the audience to watch his son and make his debut Rocky a success, feels like a wasted 2 hours.

From the trailers and posters it was quite obvious that Rocky is supposed to be an out and out action flick. The action element is there in gallons but somehow as is obvious the same gets diluted with romance and drama giving rise to a failed venture. Mahakashay aka Mimoh is Rocky, a goon from Mumbai. He is on a mission and constantly runs away from the police. Everyone relates to him as a 'chameleon' who constantly changes colors. Rocky finally reaches Kashmir and meets Nandini (Puja), he instantly falls in love with her. As predicted the woman of his dreams never nods a yes to Rocky and is in love with a minister's son.

There is nothing that can keep them apart and much as destiny has it, on the one hand as Rocky struggles to keep himself alive and safe from the police he keeps struggling for his love as well. In a turn of events Nandini realizes the corrupted side of the minister's son and almost as the script has it falls for Rocky and begins to respect his feelings. A spoonful of an age old story of typical chase films, mixed with romance and comedy by debutant Mimoh fails to impress and results into a disaster for director Sujit Mondal.

The action sequences are elaborate and suits our newcomer quite well, he does shake a leg quite well too. But unfortunately his acting abilities are weak and fail to create an impact. Rocky's lady love Puja is natural. Bharat Kaul as the don also justifies his role through his strong acting abilities.

To summarize, Rocky is a disappointment and too sub-standard in terms of it's over all appeal. Mithun Chokroborty's guest dance appearance is indeed the only good thing about Rocky.
