What The Fish is a disappointing case of a lost opportunity. The film is replete with chaos and unfunny squirmy sequences so it's best you stay away from it.

A grumpy loner, Sudha Mishra (Dimple Kapadia) aka maasi (aunty) suffers from an OCD with regards to her possessions (read. house) but has to take a trip for a month. Reluctantly, she gives the keys to her niece's fiance to manage her house, waters the plants, talk to them precisely one hour each day and feed her beloved fish specifically at 8 o'clock in the evening. All hell breaks loose in her absence as the keys of the house keeps moving from one care taker to the other who leave no stone unturned to bring the house down. What The Fish is the story of what happens during the month of Sudha's absence.

Rarely come films that not only bore you but gross you out. What The Fish is one such film. In a bid to go The Hangover route re-telling the series of events that led to the dazed situation of Sudha who lands home after a month to find the strangest of things happening to her house, the director Gurmmeet Singh, takes you on a highly predictable and extremely sickening ride. So you have ample fart sounds, sequences of men peeing, showing off their arm pits and more.

The film conveniently moves from one character to the other and the order of chaos is highly chaotically representing, and believe you me, I say this not for the good. There's just too much happening in the film. So you have characters with their own quirky traits, right from an eloped couple, a friend who is hitting on the girl who eloped, a boxer who trains by the day and turns effeminate by the night to dance on mujra and a Haryanvi who is in love with a North-Eastern (Mary Kom lookalike) boxer.

The film could've been entertaining had the humour quotient in it been high and the quirky elements kept to entertain and not gross you out. There's dirty toilet humour in the film which makes you squirm in your seats and all you want to do is run to the exit.

The setting yet again is Delhi which is becoming highly monotonous in small budget films. It's high time filmmakers find out other locations to base their stories.

On the acting front, Dimple Kapadia in her bit role is given an extremely loud character so what could've been endearing to watch her on the big screen again turns out to be annoying. The rest of the cast is average at best.

What The Fish is a disappointing case of a lost opportunity. The film is replete with chaos and unfunny squirmy sequences so it's best you stay away from it.
