Naanum Rowdy Thaan is a perfect festival film to watch with your family and friends. It entertains and makes you fall in love with the lead characters, essayed by the thoroughly riotous Vijay Sethupathi and the gracefulness personified Nayanthara.

Pondy Pandi (Vijay Sethupathi) - a wannabe wastrel, meets Kaadambari (Nayanthara), a hearing impaired young woman and falls head over heels in love with her at first sight. Kaadambari challenges Pondy to murder Killi Valavan (Parthipan) to seek revenge on the killings of her father and mother. How Pondy, a coward rogue, plots the killing of Killi Valavan - a real gangster forms the rest of the story.

Vignesh Shivan should be lauded for the way he has demonstrated cinema's most exploited plot element - revenge. You will not see characters seething in anger and raging for blood. There is some innocence and poignancy attached to Nayanthara's portrayal of Kadambari and her thirst for revenge is structured brilliantly with a sensible approach in the end.

The team effort is completely visible in George C. Williams's extra ordinary camera work. His lens captures the chaotic day life and the serene atmosphere of Pondicherry's night life with utmost perfection. Sreekar Prasad's work is yet another testimony to his national award-winning dexterity in editing. The background score composed by Anirudh is one of the best in his career. His songs and the lyrics of Vignesh Shivan add so much value to the film's screenplay and elevate the film to a different level.

Naanum Rowdy Thaan is a wholly enjoyable rib-tickler with magnificent performances from Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi.
