Villain Bengali Movie
When the name of the film itself signifies a grey existence, what different can you expect from the film. The many villains we have known and have come across within our filmmaking practices were always made part of the narrative to initiate action sequences and highlight the idea of good over evil. Villains had a motif and were ever ready to destroy the hero and his family. Tota Roy Chowdhury's Villain captures the true essence of a villain, a goon and his gang. He then reinstates the idea of a hero by making him seek revenge from the real villain, but with a villainous twist.
Arnab (Tota Roy Chowdhury) is an officer with PWD, when life was running smooth. Much happier times were in store for him as he got transferred to Kolkata. He and his wife Anjali (Rituparna Sengupta) shift to a homely neighbourhood and apart from the cooperative landlady, the local boys also begin to help them with the shifting. When destiny was molding itself to offer a lot of good to the couple, much too bad was also in store for them.
With time dishonesty begins to run behind the couple. The more Tota and his honesty run away from the wrong, the faster he falls prey to such problems. The revenge episode thereafter and the awakening of Arnab (Tota Roy Chowdhury) in a new light are really impressive. The transformation of a hero towards an anti hero to seek revenge for his pregnant wife's death has been narrated well in Villain.
Rituparna Sengupta compliments Tota as his wife quite well in Villain. Yet Tota in the action sequences and as the villainous - 'anti hero' shine with glory and really prove his acting skills. Rajatava looks much believable as a shrewd politician and is likewise excellent with comic timings. The actor who adds spice to Villain is of course Barkha Bisht Sengupta. She sizzles the plot and shines with glamour.
To summarize, Tota roy chowdhury's directorial debut villain is the much known conventional revenge story served with a newer dressing. Not a remarkable watch, but can be considered because of its debut quotient.
